Origin Nutrition is an India-based supplements brand that produces high-quality vegan protein and wellness products. The brand was born out of a personal quest by its founder, Chirag Gupta, who is lactose intolerant and struggled to find clean, plant-based protein options in India. Importing products from abroad meant navigating customs, inflated prices, and long wait times. Alongside his wife, Aditi Mammen Gupta, they set out to create the cleanest protein powder in India, combining their shared passion for wellness and clean nutrition.

How the Journey Began

Aditi’s background in managing a food business and hands-on experience in food formulation played a pivotal role in Origin’s product development. After numerous trials, testing, and refinements to ensure both nutritional value and great taste, they created a range of plant-based products.

Their commitment to quality and transparency earned them recognition, with Business Insider India naming Origin Nutrition one of the Top 3 Best Protein Brands in India. Additionally, their factory is entirely women-run, empowering employees to support their families while demonstrating their dedication and skill.

The Journey to Certification

When Origin Nutrition began developing its products, they quickly realized the market was flooded with fake products, mislabelling, and a general sense of mistrust around protein supplements. To ensure their products could be trusted, they sought an internationally recognized certification that would validate their commitment to clean and honest nutrition.

Through their research, they identified the INFORMED certification programmes as a globally recognised mark of consumer trust. Further research only confirmed their decision. Following this, samples from three production runs underwent extensive testing to ensure the absence of prohibited substances. Upon successful completion, their range of plant based proteins received the INFORMED Choice certification. The certification allowed Origin Nutrition to display the INFORMED Choice logo on its packaging and gain a listing on the INFORMED website.

Certification doesn’t end there. To maintain compliance, INFORMED Choice conducts ongoing monthly blind testing by purchasing Origin Nutrition products from retail outlets. This continuous testing independently verifies product integrity, reinforcing consumer confidence.
